The Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd), virtually attended a meeting chaired by the Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya. The meeting aimed to brief State Ministers, Lieutenant Governors, and sports department officials on the roadmap for the Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament and Viksit Bharat Yuva Connect initiatives.

The meeting highlighted that these transformative initiatives seek to engage young minds in national discussions and policy deliberations, fostering leadership and civic participation. Inspired by the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the initiatives aim to empower youth voices and encourage their contributions toward achieving the goal of Viksit Bharat (Developed India) by 2047.

Lt. Governor BD Mishra emphasized that the Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament and Viksit Bharat Yuva Connect initiatives will play a crucial role in shaping a developed nation by 2047. He assured that the UT Administration of Ladakh will implement the programs as per the directives of the Union Minister to actively engage Ladakhi youth.

Recognizing sports as a key medium for youth engagement, the Lt. Governor sought assistance from the Union Minister in providing training, qualified coaches, and establishing sports federations in Ladakh. He specifically emphasized the promotion of ice hockey and horse polo, which hold cultural and regional significance. The requested support, he stated, would not only benefit Ladakhi youth but also encourage broader participation in sports across the region.

Earlier in the meeting, a detailed presentation outlined the Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament, focusing on coordinated efforts at the district, state, and national levels for its successful execution. A PowerPoint presentation on the Viksit Bharat Ambassador-Yuva Connect Programme was also shared, highlighting direct engagement opportunities between India’s youth and top policymakers.

Union Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya urged all states and union territories to extend full support to the initiative and host youth engagement programs under these schemes.

The meeting was attended by Secretary, Youth Affairs & Sports, Vikram Singh Malik, IAS; Secretary, School Education, Bhanu Prabha, IAS; and Additional Secretary, Law & Justice, Shashi Kant Bhagat.
