Lok Sabha polls: Chief Electoral Officer reviews security deployment in Ladakh
Chief Electoral Officer, Ladakh, held a review meeting on April 23 at the CEO Conference Hall, CEO Office, Karzoo, to assess the deployment of security personnel for the ongoing Lok Sabha polls.
The meeting was attended by key officials, including State Police Nodal Officer S. J. Mehmood, IPS, DIG Ladakh, State CAPF Coordinator Vijay Deswal, DIG ITBP, SSP Leh Shruti Arora, IPS, State Nodal Officer Transport RTO Ladakh Mohd Nazir Sheikh, and Mujeeb Reman, Addl. SP Kargil (via VC).
Maralkar assessed preparedness for various arrangements mandated by the Election Commission of India (ECI), such as transportation, accommodation and necessities like food, water, and electricity. Emphasising the need for timely arrangements to ensure the comfort of security forces during election duties, Maralkar requested proposals from both district SSPs regarding additional requirements like Air Ambulance and Oxygen Cylinders, along with assistance from Health/Medical departments.
Furthermore, Maralkar reviewed the requirement of security forces from outside Ladakh to facilitate the smooth conduct of the elections within the region.
