Secretary, Education and Youth Services & Sports, Bhanu Prabha, briefed the media on September 1 on the key features of the LG Yuva Internship Programme, an initiative that gives Ladakh's youth an opportunity to engage with the UT Administration and contribute meaningfully to the region's development.

The LG Yuva Internship Portal, launched on August 22, 2026, has been designed to facilitate the participation of young people in the functioning of the administration while providing them practical exposure to governance and public service.

Addressing the media, Bhanu Prabha said the programme is in line with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to make India a Viksit Bharat by 2047. She added that the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh envisages achieving the vision of a Viksit Ladakh even before 2047 through the active participation of youth and local communities in the development process.

She informed that the programme offers an opportunity to youth without any age or educational qualification bar to work with the UT Administration across 25 departments for a period of three months.

Selected interns will receive a monthly stipend of ₹5,000 during the internship.

Applicants will have the option to select up to five preferred departments based on their interests, skills and qualifications. They will also have the flexibility to choose their preferred district for undertaking the internship.

Highlighting another key feature, the Secretary said interns will be awarded an experience certificate upon successful completion of the programme. She said the internship would provide young people with practical knowledge of the functioning of government departments and an opportunity to understand governance and public service delivery at both the administrative and field levels.

She added that the participation of interns would not only help enrich service delivery but also enable young people to contribute suggestions and innovative ideas for improving administrative mechanisms. At the same time, the experience gained through the programme would strengthen their professional profiles and enhance future career opportunities.

Bhanu Prabha appealed to the youth of Ladakh to make full use of the opportunity and register on the LG Yuva Internship Portal by September 6, 2026, the last date for submission of applications.

She urged the younger generation to participate actively in the programme, stressing that their talent, knowledge, energy and aspirations are essential to transforming the vision of Viksit Ladakh into reality.

Meaningful participation of youth, she said, would ensure that the younger generation becomes an integral part of Ladakh's development journey and contributes towards building a progressive, inclusive and self-reliant Union Territory.
