Leh hosts RAMP workshops to strengthen MSME credit outreach
Workshops titled “LA-12: Workshop with Bankers for Increasing Outreach Lead” were conducted in Leh district on March 6 under the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) Programme of the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Government of India.
The workshops aimed to enhance awareness and improve access to institutional credit for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and Self-Help Group (SHG) members in the Union Territory of Ladakh.
The programmes were organised at the Conference Hall of the District Industries Centre (DIC) Leh, bringing together entrepreneurs, bankers, and officials to strengthen credit linkages and financial awareness. Around 30 entrepreneurs and SHG members from sectors such as food processing, pashmina, handicrafts, and handloom participated in the workshops.
The sessions featured expert guidance from key representatives of the banking and financial ecosystem. The experts included Stanzin Dolker, Lead District Manager; Tsewang Tamchos, Manager, State Bank of India; Tsewang Dorjey, Assistant General Manager, National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD); Stanzen Paksang, Senior Manager, SIDCO; K. Isfindyar Khan, Inspector, State Taxes Department (GST Office); and Asiya Tabassum, District Programme Manager, Ladakh Rural Livelihoods Mission, Rural Development Department.
During the workshop, resource persons delivered detailed sessions on MSME loan schemes, credit facilitation, documentation requirements, and procedures for availing institutional finance. Participants were also guided on Udyam Registration, GST compliance, and government schemes such as PMEGP, PMFME, and RAMP.
The workshops facilitated direct interaction between bankers and entrepreneurs, enabling participants to clarify queries regarding loan eligibility, working capital requirements, and financial management practices necessary for scaling their enterprises. The initiative also highlighted the importance of digital transactions, proper bookkeeping, and improved financial discipline among MSMEs.
Officials noted that such initiatives are vital for improving credit absorption capacity, strengthening financial inclusion, and supporting the growth of local enterprises in Ladakh. The workshops are expected to encourage increased MSME loan applications, improved financial preparedness, and stronger collaboration between financial institutions and entrepreneurs.
The initiative forms part of the approved activities for FY 2025–26 under the RAMP Programme, aimed at enhancing the competitiveness, growth, and sustainability of MSMEs in the Union Territory.
