Ladakh Transport Society meets Defence Minister; seeks support for economic boost
A delegation representing Ladakh Transport Cooperative Societies, comprising leaders from the Truck, Taxi, and Bus sectors of Leh and Kargil, led by MP Jamyang Tsering Namgyal, convened a meeting with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on December 20.
During the meeting, the delegation urged for the extension of the Transport hiring system on the ground of fitness certificates issued by the Regional Transport Office of Ladakh Administration. Additionally, they appealed for more flexibility in the tendering process on the Government e-Marketplace (GEM), proposing negotiated tendering specifically tailored for Ladakh Transport Cooperative Societies. These requests aim to bolster local transporters in Ladakh and fortify the rural economy in the Border Region of Union Territory of Ladakh.
Furthermore, the delegation pressed for the extension of negotiated tendering to the Ladakh Vegetable Marketing Cooperative Societies.
Expressing gratitude to the Modi Sarkar, the delegation acknowledged the Minister's consistent support in addressing transporters' concerns annually.
