A delegation representing Ladakh's transportation and tourism sectors, spearheaded by MP Jamyang Tsering Namgyal, held discussions with Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, Union Minister for Civil Aviation, on December 21.

Their primary focus was on advocating for increased flight frequency and more affordable airfares, aiming to benefit both local residents and Ladakh's tourism industry.

The delegation voiced several critical concerns, urgently seeking the Ministry's assistance in reallocating vacant Go Air slots to airlines like Air India, Vistara, Indigo, and Spice Jet. This initiative is crucial to maintaining vital connectivity to Ladakh.

They highlighted the adverse impact of escalated airfares during Ladakh's peak tourist season, emphasizing its detrimental effect on the region's economy and its inhabitants.

Further, they appealed for the swift operation of civil airlines in these regions to improve overall connectivity. Additionally, they requested expedited construction of new airports at Ufti Thang in Zanskar, Saruka Thang in Wakha Kargil, Suru-Sankoo Valley, and acceleration of the Mudh Airport completion in Nyoma Sub Division in Changthang, aiming to bolster multiple air connectivity channels.

The delegation comprises members from Ladakh's tourism industry and public representatives, Tsering Sandup,Councillor from Nubra Valley; P.T. Kunzang, Chairman, Ladakh Travel and Trade Alliance; Skarma Tsering Delex, President – All Ladakh Hotel & Guesthouse Association; Deleks Namgyal, President, All Ladakh Tour Operators Association; Thinley Dorjey, President, Ladakh Tempo Union; Thinley Namgyal, Chairman, Ladakh Taxi Co-operative Society and Tashi Tundup, President, Ladakh Bikers Association.
