Ladakh’s healthcare gets boost with new posts and expansion of SNM Hospital

The Government of India has approved the creation of 142 additional posts and the expansion of the 200-bedded SNM Hospital in Leh to a 350-bedded facility. Additionally, 103 new posts have been sanctioned for the upcoming Medical College in Leh.

Adv. Tashi Gyalson, Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor (CEC), LAHDC Leh, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Union Finance Minister, and the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brig. (Dr.) B.D. Mishra, for their instrumental efforts in securing these approvals.

He highlighted the crucial role played by the government in upgrading SNM Hospital and establishing the Medical College, both of which address critical needs in Ladakh.
Gyalson acknowledged the longstanding challenges faced by SNM Hospital, including increased patient loads and manpower shortages. He welcomed the expansion and additional resources as a much-needed development.

He emphasized that the establishment of the Medical College and the sanctioning of new posts represent a significant milestone for Ladakh, not only improving healthcare facilities but also creating valuable employment opportunities for the region's youth.
