L-G Mathur lays foundation stone of Ladakh Bhawan (Leh Wing) in Delhi Ladakh Bhawan should be a ‘green building’, says L-G
Foundation stone for Ladakh Bhawan (Leh Wing) in Dwarka, New Delhi was laid by the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, RK Mathur on January 7.
His Eminence Thiksey Rinpoche; Chairman, LAHDC Leh, Advocate Tashi Gyalson; Deputy Chairman, LAHDC Leh, Tsering Angchuk; Executive Councillor, LAHDC Leh, Tashi Namgyal Yakzee; Councillors; Member, National Commission for Minorities, Rinchen Lhamo; Commissioner/Secretary, PWD, Ajeet Kumar Sahu; Deputy Commissioner, Leh, Shrikant Suse; representatives from political and religious organisations and officials from Ladakh were present during the foundation stone laying ceremony.
Spread over an area of 1,266 square meters, Ladakh Bhawan (Leh Wing) will have 21 rooms, two suites, one semi-suite, and two dormitories. Ladakh Bhawan (Leh Wing) with a capacity to accommodate 80 people will be constructed at a cost of ₹ 31.05 crores.
Appreciating all the political and official teams for their hard work in helping to realize the dream of Ladakh Bhawan, LG Mathur stated that the Bhawan would prove beneficial to students, pilgrims, and patients from Ladakh. He expressed hope to see the Bhawan ready in the next two-three years.
LG Mathur advised that the Ladakh Bhawan be constructed as a green building and emphasized the need to get a green rating for the building. He stated that Bhawan should be a special building energy-wise, with waste treatment facilities, so that it could become a good neighbor for the residents of Delhi.
CEC Tashi Gyalson appreciated the efforts and steps being taken for this project. Terming the project close to his heart, CEC Gyalson thanked LG Mathur and MP Ladakh Jamyang Tsering Namgyal for their major contribution to making this project possible. He also thanked senior and visionary leaders from Ladakh for their efforts in identifying and leasing out the land from DDA for the construction of Ladakh Bhawan.
He further stated that the construction of Ladakh Bhawan would be beneficial for the marginalized people from remote areas of Ladakh, especially patients, students, and pilgrims. He briefed about the Ladakh Bhawan project and stated that the construction of the Ladakh Bhawan was possible after Ladakh became a Union Territory.
Earlier, DC Leh Shrikant Suse welcomed all the guests and a consecration puja was also conducted at the site during the occasion.
