Leh :
Foundation stone for the construction of pre-engineered and prefabricated office block was laid by Lieutenant Governor R K Mathur at Raj Niwas, Karzoo on October 29.
The four-storied building is set to be the first of its kind in Ladakh which will be constructed using prefabricated parts. The solar passive structure will have insulated walls and will be equipped with a sewage treatment plant of its own. Such buildings are easy to assemble and if need be, they are convenient to dismantle and will remain sturdy for more than fifty years.
L-G Mathur asserted that sustainability and energy efficiency should be the core of the construction design of the building, and this can be considered as the pilot project.
