Lieutenant Governor R K Mathur discussed the implementation and progress of Jal Jeevan Mission in Ladakh with Union Minister Jal Shakti GOI, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat on July 10. The meeting was held via video conferencing.

Jal Jeevan Mission, envisioned by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2019, aims at providing portable water in adequate quantity and of prescribed quality to all households.

Gajendra Singh Shekhawat said that even though Ladakh’s terrain is challenging, the aim of providing Functional Household Tap Connections (FHTCs) by March 2022 must be achieved. 
 
Considering Ladakh’s harsh climatic condition, R K Mathur affirmed that the UT Administration is in the process of procuring appropriate technologies and expertise to execute Jal Jeevan Mission.
