KVK, Nyoma, conducts agriculture, animal husbandry awareness in Durbuk block

A team of scientists of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, SKUAST, Nyoma under the leadership of Dr. Sonam Spaldon visited various villages from October 25 to 27 in Durbuk block.
Awareness camps, training programmes, veterinary medical camps, soil sampling and survey was done in Chushul, Khera-Pulu, Satto, Yarath, Tharuk, Shachukul, Yurgo, Phobrang and Merak villages of Changthang region.
Dr. Sonam Spaldon, Scientist, Vegetable Science inform people about the impact of climate change on agriculture in Changthang region. Dr. Anwar Hussain, Scientist, Food Science and Technology spoke about the preservation methods and importance of fruits and vegetables. Dr. Hanuman Lal Verma, Scientist, Agricultural Extension told about the self-employment avenues in agriculture and allied sectors to the students of Govt. Higher Secondary School, Tharuk.
Veterinary medical camps were organised during which animals were treated, blood samples from diseased animals were taken for test and free medicines were distributed among the farmers. Survey about the current status and baseline data of agriculture and animal husbandry were done and soil samples were taken from various villages of Durbuk block.
Dr. Akeel Bashir Beigh and Dr. Mir Nadeem, Scientists, Animal Science told about the prevention and therapeutic management of livestock diseases, control of parasitic diseases by dosing and dipping and feed supplementation in livestock of Changthang region.
