Khidmat-e-Awaam outreach programme held at Matayen, Drass
A public outreach programme titled “Khidmat-e-Awaam” was successfully organised on April 10 at Matayen in Drass Subdivision of Kargil district, witnessing significant participation from local residents as well as officials from various government departments.
The programme was organised by the District Administration with the objective of promoting good governance and ensuring the delivery of government services at the doorstep of the people. The initiative was conducted under the directions of the Chief Secretary of Ladakh as part of the ongoing district-wide outreach programmes being held under the aegis of Khidmat-e-Awaam.
The programme was convened under the supervision of Sub-Divisional Magistrate Vishal Atri. During the interaction, residents actively participated and projected several developmental demands. Prominent issues raised included the construction of an irrigation canal and the establishment of a Medical Sub-Centre at Matayen.
Officials from various line departments interacted with the public, listened to their concerns, and assured appropriate follow-up action. The programme provided an important platform for direct engagement between the administration and the local population.
The District Administration reiterated its commitment to strengthening public service delivery and ensuring that government services reach every corner of the district through such outreach initiatives.
The Department of Sheep Husbandry, Drass, conducted awareness sessions on various schemes for the protection and rearing of livestock. The CDPO, ICDS Drass, sensitised the public on maintaining hygiene and ensuring proper nutrition for children. J&K Bank, Drass, also provided financial awareness and informed residents about various banking services.
At the conclusion of the programme, the SDM Drass directed all sectoral officers to attend Khidmat-e-Awaam events every Wednesday and ensure effective service delivery to the public.
