Kargil Urban Local Body awarded with ‘North Zone - Best City in Citizen Feedback’ with a population of 25,000 in Swachh Sarvekshan 2020 on August 20.

The online award ceremony to announce the winners of the City Sanitation Ranking Survey Swachh Sarvekshan 2020 was organised by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. Hardeep Singh, Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs was the chief guest of the online event. 
  
Moses Kunzang, Mission Director, Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) Ladakh participated in the online event from Ladakh. Executive Officer, Municipal Committee, Kargil, Shafqat Ali Khan; Nodal Officer SBM Ladakh Stanzin Yougzing; SBM In-charge Kargil, Jafar Ali, and Data Operator SBM, 
Mohd Abbas were also present.   
 
In the past year, Ladakh won awards in various categories. Leh won the ‘Cleanest City of North Zone with less than 2 lakh population’ in the year 2016. Also, the district won three state-level awards of ‘1st ODF city in J&K State’ in 2018, Best Performance in Swachhta Hi Seva 2018, and Cleanest City Award in Swachh Survekshan.
