Kargil’s Shahnaz Parveen gears up for World University Championship in Germany

International Taekwondo player and State Awardee, Shahnaz Parveen, met Deputy Commissioner Kargil, Shrikant Suse, at his office in Baroo on April 4, following her selection for the prestigious World University Taekwondo Championship scheduled to be held in Germany.
DC Kargil congratulated Parveen on her remarkable achievement, noting with pride that she is the only woman from the Union Territory of Ladakh to be selected for this international championship—for the second time. He assured her of all possible support from the District Administration and commended her dedication and determination in representing Kargil, Ladakh, and the nation at the global level.
During the meeting, Parveen expressed her gratitude to the DC for his proactive efforts in promoting sports in the region. She also highlighted the financial challenges faced by aspiring athletes from Kargil and urged for sustained institutional support, especially for talented players who bring recognition to Ladakh and India despite limited resources.
Later, Parveen met with the Joint Director of Sports, UT Ladakh, Tahir Hussain Zubdavi, at the Council Secretariat, Kargil. She conveyed her heartfelt appreciation for his consistent encouragement and lauded the Department of Youth Services and Sports, UT Ladakh, for its efforts in nurturing talent and fostering a strong sports culture across the region.
