Assistant Electoral Registration Officer and Executive Officer, Municipal Committee Kargil, Tahir Ahmad, chaired a meeting with representatives of various political parties on October 5 to discuss the draft publication and revision of the Municipal Electoral Roll, 2026, for Municipal Committee Kargil under the relevant provisions of the Municipal Election Rules, 2003.

During the meeting, participants were informed that the draft Electoral Rolls have been prepared and published and are available for inspection at the office of the Electoral Registration Officer (Assistant Commissioner, Revenue), Kargil, and the office of the Municipal Committee, Kargil, during office hours.

The concerned Polling Station Level Officers (PSLOs) have also been directed to display the draft Electoral Rolls at their respective polling stations for public inspection.

Representatives of political parties were informed that claims for inclusion of names, objections to the inclusion of any name, or objections to particulars in any entry, with October 1, 2026, as the qualifying date, may be submitted in Forms 3, 4 or 5, as applicable, on or before October 15, 2026.

Claims and objections may be submitted to the Electoral Registration Officer (Assistant Commissioner, Revenue), Kargil, or to the respective PSLOs within the prescribed timeline.

The Executive Officer urged representatives of all political parties to cooperate in the process and assist in ensuring that all eligible residents are duly included in the Electoral Rolls. He also appealed to eligible residents to inspect the draft Electoral Rolls and submit claims or objections, if any, within the stipulated period.

The meeting was attended by the Election Officer, Kargil; representatives of the SLTM Election Cell; District President, AAP, Kargil; District President, BJP, Kargil; representative of INC, Kargil; District President, JKNC, Kargil; besides other officials and representatives.
