Joint Director Information Imteeaz Kacho interacts with media fraternity of Leh

Joint Director, Information Department, UT Ladakh, Imteeaz Kacho chaired an interactive session with the media fraternity of Leh district on September 4 and discussed various issues of the local journalists.

Joint Director also seeks suggestions/feedback to formulate guidelines for Journalist Welfare Scheme (JWS) for UT Ladakh.  
 
Assistant Director, Information Department, Leh, Dr. Tundup Namgial; President, Press Club Leh, Stanzin Desal; media persons from different print, electronic and digital media, All India Radio, Leh, and Doordarshan were part of the interactive session.
 
During the meeting, detailed deliberations took place regarding the various issues faced by the local journalists of Leh in terms of access to information, accreditation of media persons, and coverage permissions for important events among others. The meeting also discussed the formulation of guidelines for the Journalist Welfare Scheme.
 
Joint Director, Imteeaz Kacho thanked the media fraternity for participating in the session and opined that an open interaction and association with the local journalists would be beneficial for strengthening the journalistic scenario of Ladakh. 
 
He added that the UT Administration has conducted several training sessions and workshops for skilling and empowering creative professionals and particularly the local journalists as well. Joint Director shared that the UT Administration would also conduct workshops in the future as per the need and requirement expressed by the media fraternity for broadening their horizon. 
 
On the occasion, the Joint Director also briefed the media persons on the upcoming five-day Ladakh Screenwriters’ Workshop to be organised by the DIPR Ladakh from September 12-16 with renowned experts from the film fraternity. 
 
Joint Director added that all efforts would be made to make the Journalist Welfare Scheme a comprehensive and inclusive document ensuring maximum welfare of the journalists of Ladakh.
 
Assistant Director, Dr. Tundup Namgial said the issues and the suggestions put forth by the local journalists would be addressed effectively.
