First petrol pump at Stara on National Highway 301 Kargil-Padum Road was inaugurated by Director Marketing, Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), Gurmeet Singh in presence of EC Zanskar Affairs, Er Phunsog Tashi on November 3.

The petrol pump has a storage capacity of 40,000 litre diesel and 20,000 litre petrol. With the opening of this petrol pump, the problem of the people of the Zanskar region will be redressed.

Executive Director, IOC, Sujoy Choudhary; General Manager, IOC, Amarendar Kumar; SDM Zanskar Sonam Dorjay besides sub-divisional officers and locals were present on the occasion.

EC Zanskar Affairs expressed his gratitude to the IOC for the opening of two petrol pumps in the Zanskar area.

Gurmeet Singh assured that in the future the company will keep adequate stock of fuel on these pumps so as to ensure satisfactory availability of petrol and diesel to the local population.
