International Archives week celebrates in Leh Focus on record management and document preservation
The Department of Archives, Archaeology, and Museum, in collaboration with the Revenue Department of Leh, observed International Archives Week with an insightful event at the DC Conference Hall, Leh, on June 8.
The Assistant Commissioner of the Revenue Department, Leh, Shabir Hussain, was the chief guest on the occasion. The event focused on the crucial aspects of record management and the preservation of document heritage.
AD/Registering Officer, Antiquities in Ladakh, Khadim Hussain, presented an informative PowerPoint presentation on the importance of record management and the effective use of archives. His presentation highlighted the essential role that well-maintained records play in governance and heritage preservation.
Dr. Noor Jahan, a noted conservation specialist, delivered a comprehensive PowerPoint presentation on the conservation of document heritage and records. She emphasized the need for proper conservation techniques to preserve historical documents for future generations.
The event concluded with a pledge from all attendees to uphold the values of record management and document conservation, reinforcing their commitment to preserving the rich heritage of Ladakh.
The gathering saw participation from the staff of both the Revenue Department and the Archives Department.
