Integrated Communication Programme in Kargil aims to educate public on key initiatives

Chairman/CEC of LAHDC Kargil, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon, attended the Integrated Communication and Outreach Programme held at Syed Mehdi Memorial Hall, Kargil, on October 8.

Organised by the Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the event focused on Poshan Abhiyaan, Mission LiFE, and the New Criminal Laws - 2023.

The program was attended by Ghulam Abass, Director of CBC Jammu & Kashmir, Field Publicity Officer Shahid Lone, FPO Naseer Ahmad Rathar, along with students from various schools, ASHA workers, and community members.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Akhoon praised the CBC for organizing the three-day event, emphasizing its role in educating the public about various government initiatives. He highlighted the Council’s efforts to improve education through the establishment of Council Model Schools, describing them as the pride of society. He also mentioned the availability of Boys’ and Girls’ Hostels in Srinagar and Jammu and the tradition of honoring meritorious students from Kargil during Independence and Republic Day celebrations.

Dr. Akhoon stressed the importance of education, stating that students in Kargil have a bright future. He discussed the Council’s efforts over the past five years to address the recruitment gap for gazetted officers by coordinating with the Central and UT-level governments to establish a separate Public Service Commission.

Additionally, he expressed optimism about the completion of the Zojila Tunnel project by the end of 2025, following his recent visit to its East and West Portals.The CEC announced plans for the Hill Council, in collaboration with the MP Ladakh, to sponsor 8-10 meritorious students from Kargil for UPSC coaching in Delhi after a proper selection process. He encouraged students to prioritize both academic and physical activities.

Dr. Akhoon concluded by thanking the CBC and Kargil’s media outlets for their proactive role in disseminating information and raising awareness. Earlier, the Director of CBC, J&K, and Ladakh provided an overview of the program and welcomed all guests.
