Indian Air Force celebrates 91st anniversary
Indian Air Force celebrated its 91st anniversary themed, ‘Har Kaam Desh Ke Naam’ on October 8 at Air Force Station Leh.
A static display of Rafale aircraft, Cheetal helicopters, Mi-17V5 helicopters, indigenous Akash Missile System, and Medium Range Surface to Air Missile was showcased.
Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd) attended the celebrations. Air Commodore DS Handa, Air Officer Commanding Air Force Station, Leh and his team including Group Captain Rajnish Jha, Group Captain Sameer Sharma, Group Captain P Saha, civil dignitaries, students, and the general public were also present.
The flying formation of Cheetal helicopters, led by Group Captain Rudra Chattopadhyay, presented an impressive display as part of the IAF Airshow over Air Force Station Leh.
L-G Mishra commended the Indian Air Force for their service to the nation at large and in particular, Ladakh. He stated that India is strengthening its defense capabilities through indigenous manufacturing of all types of aircraft and proudly developing advanced weapon systems which is instilling a great sense of pride in every Indian.
The Air Force officials briefed the guests about the strengths and capabilities of each aircraft and missile system displayed during the event.
Attractive aircraft posters, stickers, and other publicity materials were distributed among the students witnessing the event. It invoked inquisitiveness, particularly among the younger generation, and was a good motivation for them to join the Indian Air Force.
