Three stone crushing units and one hot and wet mixing plant in the Kurbathang area of Kargil were sealed after found indulging in illegal mining activities on May 5.

Following the report of the general public about illegal mining in the district, Assistant Commissioner (Revenue), Deputy Director, Geology and Mining, Ladakh, District Mineral Officer, Naib Tehsildar, Kargil and SHO Kargil conducted a surprise inspection. During the inspection, the owners of three stone crushing units named, Haji Mehdi Ali, Mohd Murtaza, Mohd Baqir M/S Arman Engineering and a hot and wet mixing plant owned by M/S GICL Meraj-Ud-Din Naqvi were found indulged in illegal mining activities at Kurbathang.

Moreover, two owners of stone crushing units Abdul Qadir/Showkat Kachoo and Niyaz Ali were issued strict instructions and warning to secure NOCs from the concerned departments regarding the installation of plant and quarry license/permission.
