IIT experts interact with entrepreneurs of Kargil
A team of delegations from IIT interacted with the local entrepreneurs, Self-Help Group members and progressive farmers of the Kargil district on May 10 at the Council Secretariat.
The IIT delegates include Dr Anil Verma, Professor in Chemical Engineering, Head Continuing Education Program, IIT Delhi; Dr Anil Wali, MD FITT, IIT Delhi; Dr Amitabha Bandopadhyay, Department of Biological Sciences and Bio-Engineering, IIT Kanpur, professor-in-charge, SIIC (Incubation centre); Ankit Saxena, in charge of social innovation, IIT Kanpur and Shakti Tripathy, Senior manager, Desai Sethi school of entrepreneurship, IIT Bombay.
The meeting made deliberations on apricot processing, organic farming, food processing, handicrafts, handlooms, branding, packaging, digital marketing of local products, pricing and market segmentation.
DC, Kargil, and Santosh Sukhdeva suggested the experts plan for entrepreneurship development in Ladakh according to the demography and topography of the region which is different from plain areas.
He emphasized conducting an interactive session of budding entrepreneurs of Kargil with entrepreneurs from Leh who are already in the field to gain exposure.
The experts gave a patient listening to the local entrepreneurs and progressive farmers and also suggested fruitful mechanisms to resolve their issues.
They further emphasized the local entrepreneurs remain in touch with the incubation centre in Leh for further suggestions and expert guidance.
