Hill Council Leh welcomes Lieutenant Governor R K Mathur

Welcoming the first Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Radha Krishna Mathur, Hill council Leh convened an introductory meeting at Grand Dragon Hotel.
Gyal P Wangyal, CEC, Hill Council, Leh introduced R.K Mathur with all the councilors and expressed hope that under Union Territory set up the role of Hill Council will be taken as crucial in every decision-making process
He stressed the need to maintain a good relationship between Administration and Hill Council for better development in Ladakh.
He further urged R.K Mathur to take everyone together in ensuring the smooth functioning of UT Ladakh and proper utilization of money with increased funds flow in the coming times.
R.K Mathur assured to take the council along and said that the developmental processes will be considerably improved with much greater ease in implementations of schemes and policies. As the power has been shifted from Srinagar to Ladakh, he expressed strong hope that under UT status Ladakh will achieve the dream that was always wished for.
He urged all stakeholders to work together on certain issues that are being raised at the local level such as land, environment, employment, and outside influences.
In the new governance structure, he said that the role of Hill Council is critical and the new system will always involve Leh and Kargil Hill Councils in decision-making processes.
Financial packages will be announced soon and adding of the funds should be efficiently and judiciously used, he added.
R.K Mathur also stressed upon thorough understanding about the local peculiarities and distinct features of Ladakh in presenting the region to the outside world.
Jamyang Tsering Namgyal, MP Ladakh; Rigzin Samphel, Commissioner Secretary and Sachin Kumar, DC, Leh was also present on the occasion.
