A health camp and awareness programme was organised at Government Higher Secondary School, Sakti, on August 25 by AAM-PHC Sakti under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan. The programme aimed to create awareness among students and teachers about the harmful effects of drug and substance addiction and promote a healthier, drug-free society.

The programme featured an awareness session by Dr. Padma Angmo, Consultant Psychiatrist, SNM Hospital, Leh, who sensitised students and teachers about the physical, psychological and social consequences of drug addiction. She also highlighted the importance of early intervention and seeking timely help and support for individuals affected by substance use.

Alongside the awareness session, comprehensive health services were provided to students and staff. Anaemia screening was conducted under the Anaemia Mukt Bharat Programme of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, along with Hepatitis screening, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen preventive and promotive healthcare at the community level.

The Principal of Government Higher Secondary School, Sakti, addressed the gathering and appreciated the initiative, emphasising the important role of schools, teachers and parents in guiding young people towards healthy and responsible choices.

Dr. Jigmet Wangchuk, Medical Officer, AAM-PHC Sakti, expressed gratitude to the Principal, teachers and students for their active participation and cooperation. He highlighted the importance of continued collaboration between health and educational institutions in promoting awareness, early screening and preventive healthcare.

The programme concluded with a renewed commitment to the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan and to empowering young people with knowledge, awareness and access to appropriate health services for a healthier future.
