Fisheries department stresses on pisciculture in Leh

A one-day exposure tour cum field visit under ATMA scheme was flagged off by Mumtaz Hussain, EC Fisheries on March 23 in Leh.
Addressing the fish farmers Mumtaz Hussain stressed them to get acquainted with the fish farming activities and its benefit.
He also urged the unemployed youth to come forward and adopt pisciculture as a source of income and employment.
Mohd. Amin Lone, AD Fisheries briefed the farmers about various schemes of the department and techniques which are being adopted in recent years to increase fish production in private sector.
The farmers went on field visit and exposure tour at the departmental fish farm at Shey, Sindhu and Chuchot.
Also, a one-day fish farmer training programme was organised at Fish Farm Chuchot on March 22 in which around 50 fish farmers of Leh district participated.
The farmers were given training regarding fish rearing, disease control, proper feeding and marketing of fish. Also, Trout fish seed was also distributed among the fish farmers by AD Fisheries.
