The first-ever Volleyball teams from the Union Territory of Ladakh in the Under-19 and Under-17 Boys and Girls categories were flagged off by Director Youth Services and Sports, UT Ladakh, Tahir Hussain Zabdavi, from Kargil on November 7. The teams will represent Ladakh in the 69th School Games Federation of India (SGFI) National Championships 2025, scheduled to be held in Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.
A total of 54 athletes, including managers and coaches, are participating in the championships. While interacting with the players, the Director extended his best wishes for their success and urged them to play with discipline, dedication, and true sportsmanship to bring laurels to the Union Territory.
Officials from the Youth Services and Sports Department and parents of the athletes were also present during the flag-off ceremony, adding to the enthusiasm and encouragement of the young participants.
The event marks a historic milestone for UT Ladakh, as it is the first time Volleyball teams from the region are competing in the SGFI Nationals — reflecting Ladakh’s growing sporting culture and the administration’s commitment to promoting youth talent and sports development.
