First-ever Sindhu Darshan Utsav in Kargil highlights unity in diversity
The 28th Sindhu Darshan Utsav was celebrated for the first time in district Kargil on June 21 at the Auditorium Hall, Kargil.
The District Administration Kargil, in collaboration with the North Zone Cultural Center, Patiala, organised vibrant programs that featured various artists from across the country, along with local artists from Kargil showcasing diverse cultural dances.
CEC Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon welcomed Sindhu Darshan yatris, expressing pride in the event's inaugural edition in Kargil. He emphasised the unity of India's diverse cultures and religions, reflecting on Kargil as a microcosm of harmony where different communities thrive together.
Highlighting Kargil's transformation beyond its historical context, Dr. Akhoon showcased the district's natural wonders, adventurous landscapes, historical monuments, and scenic trekking routes, inviting tourists to explore these unique attractions. He encouraged all yatris to promote Kargil as a destination and ambassadors of its cultural richness.
Dr. Akhoon also paid tribute to the local community's unwavering support during the Kargil War, praising their resilience and hospitality.
Deputy Commissioner Shrikant Suse extended a warm welcome to all yatris, sharing his privileged experience of participating in the Sindhu Darshan Yatra for three years in Leh district. He assured continued exceptional hospitality from the district administration, inviting visitors to immerse themselves in Kargil's cultural heritage and natural beauty spread across its diverse landscapes.
The event culminated with honors bestowed upon CEC Akhoon and DC Suse, recognizing their dedication to promoting cultural diversity and fostering community spirit through the Sindhu Darshan Utsav in Kargil.
