The Ladakh Pollution Control Committee (LPCC), in coordination with the Municipal Committee (MC), conducted an enforcement drive against banned single-use plastics (SUP) on February 7.

During the inspections, fines were imposed on four unit holders found using or selling banned SUP items.

Additionally, a joint inspection of scrap dealer shops along Agling Road was carried out to check compliance with waste management norms, including issues related to informal trading, dismantling, and recycling of e-waste. The concerned unit holders were directed to complete all required compliances, documentation, and record maintenance within the stipulated timeframe, failing which necessary action would be taken as per rules.
Such enforcement and inspection drives will continue to ensure strict environmental compliance.
