Electoral roll revision to begin in April: Chief Electoral Officer Ladakh
A meeting to review preparations for the upcoming Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in the Union Territory of Ladakh was held on March 9 at the DC Conference Hall, Leh, under the chairmanship of Rahul Sharma.
The meeting was attended by Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) and Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Leh, Mukul Beniwal; Assistant Chief Electoral Officer Delex Namgyal; Deputy District Election Officer Leh Padma Angmo; Assistant Electoral Registration Officer (AERO) and Tehsildar Leh; BLO Supervisors; and Booth Level Officers (BLOs) of Tehsil Leh.
During the meeting, the Chief Electoral Officer reviewed the present status of polling stations and took stock of various issues being faced at different locations. The concerns were presented by the AERO and discussed in detail to ensure their timely resolution.
The CEO informed that the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) is scheduled to commence in April and directed all concerned officials to remain fully prepared for its smooth conduct. He also interacted with BLOs regarding the verification of voters in their respective polling stations and instructed them to thoroughly check and update the electoral rolls.
Further, the BLOs were directed to facilitate the appointment of Booth Level Officer-2 (BLO-2) in polling stations having more than 500 voters and to share updated data with the AEROs.
The CEO also emphasised the need for adequate arrangements, including reliable internet connectivity and the availability of printing facilities, to ensure the smooth implementation of the revision process.
Discussions were also held on mapping electors from the 2005 Special Intensive Revision (last SIR) with the latest electoral rolls and various field-level issues. Queries raised by the BLOs were also clarified during the meeting.
The meeting concluded with directions to all concerned officials to work in close coordination to ensure the successful conduct of the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls in the district.
