Executive Councilor for Tourism, RD and Zanskar Affairs, LAHDC, Kargil, Er Punchok Tashi convened a meeting with Incharge National Highway & Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL), contractor of 8th Phase of NH-301 and Revenue Department on May 8 at Dak Bungalow, Padum, Zanskar.

He reviewed the progress and status of ongoing work of the NH and identify land for the construction of the Tehsil Library.

EC took a detailed assessment of the construction of road and culverts on the NH and directed the Incharge NHIDCL and contractor of 8th Phase NH-301 to expedite work and rectify the inconvenience site for smooth vehicle movement till the completion of culverts.

The contractor assured EC Tashi to complete the construction of culverts at the earliest and rectify the inconvenience for vehicular movement in the next few days.

Tashi informed that Rs 1.13 crore has been transferred to the account of 18 land owners of Padum village whose land comes under construction of NH301. Similarly, land compensation of other villages of Zanskar shall also be credited soon.

The EC also directed the Revenue Department to re-identify the land of the Doordarshan site for the construction of the Tehsil Library. After the meeting, he visited the site of the proposed land for the construction of the Tehsil Library.
