EC, Tourism and Zanskar Affairs, Er Phuntsog Tashi reviewed the progress of ongoing and newly approved works under Capex Budget, State Sector, and Special Development Package (SDP) 2020-21 for the Tourism sector in Kargil district on July 26.

Assistant Director, Tourism, Kargil, Aga Syed Taha and In Charge Chief Executive Officer Kargil Development Authority (KDA) and Zanskar Development Authority (ZDA) presented overall physical and financial achievements of the ongoing projects and status of preparation of DPRs of the newly approved projects under various sector in the district till date.

It was informed that under the Capex Budget 2020, KDA and ZDA were included by LAHDC Kargil for the first time and an amount of ₹1.50 crore has been approved for each development authority. Also, ₹2 crore each for Assistant Director Tourism, Kargil and AD Tourism, Zanskar, ₹3.33 crore for KDA, and ₹ 3.20 crore for ZDA has been approved under the State Sector Plan for construction of various ongoing and new infrastructure in the district.

Underlining the need to ensure completion of the projects as per the stipulated timelines, EC Tashi stressed all the executing agencies to expedite the tendering process considering the short working season. He also directed the engineers to ensure expenditure of the approved funds so that infrastructure and other facilities could be created for the Tourism sector in the district.

He further added that sufficient provision of funds have been kept in the proposals for preservation and promotion of pilgrimage tourism in the district.

Assistant Director, Tourism, Kargil Aga Syed Taha; Executive Engineer, Kargil Development Authority (KDA), and Zanskar Development Authority (ZDA), Sajjad Hussain Wazir, representatives of KDA and ZDA and other concerned officers attended the meeting.
