A Chöd prayer ceremony was presented by approximately 100 students of Druk Padma Karpo School, Shey, at Jive-Tsal on the fourth day of the Sacred Exposition of the Holy Relics of the Tathagata in the Union Territory of Ladakh.

Chöd, which means “cutting through,” is a Vajrayana Buddhist practice rooted in the Perfection of Wisdom tradition. It aims to overcome ego-clinging and fear through meditation, chanting, and ritual music. Traditionally associated with the Tibetan yogini Machig Labdrön, the practice symbolically involves offering one’s own body to cultivate compassion and realize the nature of non-self.

The students’ performance enhanced the spiritual atmosphere of the exposition, reflecting both deep devotional commitment and the continued preservation of Ladakh’s rich Buddhist heritage.
