Drug and Food Control Organisation, Leh organises awareness-cum-workshop in Nubra Focuses prevention of Drug Abuse/Drug Addiction among children/adolescents and illicit trafficking
Drug and Food Control Organisation, Leh along with Ladakh Price Monitoring and Research Unit (LPMRU) organised an awareness-cum-workshop session at the Conference Hall of SDM, Nubra in Diskit on December 3.
Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Nubra, Dorjey Gyaltson was present. Chairperson BDC Diskit, Stanzin Gyatso and Hunder Councillor, Kunzang Lotus, and various dignitaries from government departments, including Health, Education, chemists, and govt pharmacists participated.
The session focused on a Centrally sponsored scheme (CSS) of Consumer Awareness, Publicity, and Price Monitoring (CAPPM) on medicines and medical devices and related information. It also focused on the Prevention of Drug Abuse/Drug Addiction among children/adolescents and illicit trafficking.
The team headed by Mohd Bashir, I/C Drug Controller, Drugs and Food Control Organisation, UT Ladakh, including Dr. Shabir, Physician Specialist, SDH, Diskit; Nawang Tashi, Project Coordinator, LPMRU and Nazia Kouser, Field Investigator, LPMRU were the resource persons for the session.
The resource persons were briefed about the availability, accessibility, and affordability of medicines and the necessary points/measures to know or look out for while purchasing and consuming medicines.
The participants were given extensive awareness and know-how concerning the agenda and were appealed to play a proactive role in making people aware of their health, usage, and storage of medicines and prevention of drug abuse/ addiction and its illicit trafficking among adolescents which has become a great challenge to the society.
