Dr. Dawa visits Chokdo village, addresses the demands and grievances of villagers

For the very first time, CEC Dr. Sonam Dawa visited Chokdo village crossing Kongmaroo-Leh on 8 June.

Jamyang, Councillor expressed gratitude to the team headed by Dr. Dawa, CEC  for visiting the remote village for the first time. 
 
He informed CEC that Chokdo village will be connected with road within a week time as construction of the road is in full swing at present.

He demanded a motorable bridge to connect Skitchan hamlet, compensation for mortality of about 90 sheep and goats during March-April heavy snowfall in Shang valley, strengthening of electric poles by replacing wooden, restoration of irrigation headworks, flood protection bandhs along the Nallah and upcoming new road and home stay facility for the villagers. 

For the construction of the bridge to connect Skitchen hamlet, CEC, directed Rural Dev. Dept to make the estimation of the bridge. Regarding compensation for the morality of livestock, a detail report for the entire district has already been submitted to state government. 
 
He directed Exn PDD for strengthening of electric poles at the earliest and also directed Wildlife Warden, Leh for the provision of home stay facility to the left out families of Chokdo village. 

Meanwhile, Dr Sonam Dawa honoured Stanzin Mentok who is the first highly educated girl from Chokdo village presently working as Assistant Professor (Commerce) at Degree College Basoli, Jammu.
