In a remarkable display of solidarity, residents of Gound Mangal Pore (GMPore) in Kargil on March 30 organised a community-led donation drive to support people in Iran, with an unusual auction drawing widespread attention.

During the event, various locally donated items were auctioned to raise funds for relief efforts. A chicken, contributed by a local resident as a symbolic offering, became the highlight of the drive.

In a striking gesture of generosity, the chicken was auctioned for ₹1.25 lakh, turning a modest donation into a powerful symbol of compassion and collective spirit.

Organisers and community leaders hailed the response, stating that it reflects Kargil’s long-standing tradition of extending support to those in distress, beyond geographical and national boundaries.
