The District Child Protection Unit, in collaboration with the Child Welfare Committee (CWC), Juvenile Justice Board (JJB), and CHL, organized the official screening of a short film on the POCSO Act at Girls Higher Secondary School, Leh, on December 5. The film, scripted and directed by Tsetan Angchuk and his team, aimed to educate children and raise societal awareness about this critical issue.

The event was graced by Tashi Dolma, Director of the Social and Tribal Welfare Department, UT Ladakh; Inzar Rana, District Child Protection Officer and District Social Welfare Officer, Leh; and Kunzang Dolma, Principal of GHSS Leh.

Ahead of the screening, Tashi Dolma, a member of the CWC, provided a detailed overview of the POCSO Act, explaining its provisions and significance in safeguarding children from abuse.

Following the short film, another visual presentation on the Mission Vatsalya Scheme was screened. This highlighted the importance of sponsorships, foster care, and CHL initiatives, emphasizing collaborative efforts to ensure child welfare.

The event marked a significant step in addressing societal taboos and fostering a safer environment for children. The District Child Protection Unit reaffirmed its commitment to empowering children and building a secure and nurturing society.
