District Administration in Kargil launches snow clearance operations for uninterrupted connectivity
District Administration Kargil launched snow clearance measures in the district to ensure uninterrupted road connectivity on February 4.
Deputy Commissioner of Kargil directed all relevant departments to mobilize their personnel and machinery for the efficient provision of essential services.
Shafqat Ali Khan, Executive Officer of the Municipal Committee, reported that 100 percent of roads in the municipal area of Kargil town have been cleared.
Simultaneously, the Mechanical Department in Kargil launched snow clearance operations across the entire district. Mohammed Hassan, Executive Engineer in Kargil, highlighted the completion of priority snow clearance on the road leading to the 300-bedded hospital and the Council Secretariat in Kargil.
Snow removal efforts extended to hospital premises in Shargole and Drass, as well as locations such as Zamastang, Lamar Goshan Road in Drass, and ongoing work from Sankoo to Barsoo and Sankoo Chumikchan.
Machinery was deployed for LR Marpodoks Saliskote clearance, Kukstay Road in Shargole Block, NH to Bawa Grong Tharumsa Pashkum, Kamutul Thovina road, Tangole Link Road, Gongma Tangole-Analtik link road in Taisuru Block, and ongoing efforts at Hundurman Brok.
The National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) initiated snow clearance operations, completing work at packages 1, 2, and 3. The General Manager of NHIDCL in Kargil affirmed the motorability of the Kargil-Zanskar road.
The Power Development Department (PDD) in Kargil ensured 100 percent power supply in the district, while the Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department restored 100 percent access to drinking water.
