Disaster management training program extends across Gram Panchayats in Kargil
The District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) Kargil, in collaboration with Aapda Mitra volunteers, UTDRF, Fire & Emergency, Health Department, and RD&PRD, organised comprehensive training sessions on disaster response, relief, and rescue in several Gram Panchayats including Shargole, Lotsum, Drass, Bhimbat, Sankoo, Shakar Chiktan, Sodh, and TSG blocks on December 19.
The training sessions, held at various locations, saw the participation of Block Development Officers (BDOs), Aapda volunteers, members of the Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRI), Nambardars, representatives from religious organisations, NGOs, senior citizens, locals - including women, and other community members.
These programs were designed to equip individuals with the necessary skills to effectively respond to diverse disaster situations and emergencies within the district.
Aapda volunteers, UTDRF personnel, and experts conducted demonstrations during the training, imparting practical knowledge essential for managing various disaster scenarios.
The overarching goal of this initiative is to empower the community with the tools and knowledge needed to navigate and successfully address potential challenges, fostering resilience and a proactive stance toward handling disaster-related situations.
Furthermore, participants received guidance on administering first aid for injuries sustained during unexpected incidents, emphasizing the crucial role of immediate and informed action in managing emergencies.
