Director, National Institute of Sowa-Rigpa Leh, Dr Padma Gurmet participated in first-ever WHO Traditional Medicine Global Summit in Ahmadabad, Gujarat on August 19.

The first World Health Organization Global Summit on Traditional Medicine was inaugurated on August 17 at Gandhinagar, Gujarat alongside the G20 health ministerial meet.

Director General of WHO Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus and the Union Ministry of Ayush, Sarbananda Sonowal, Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Dr Mansukh Mandaviya lighted the ceremonial lamp.

Chief Minister of Gujarat, Bhupendra Rajnikant Patel, Union Minister of State for Ayush, Dr. Munjpara Mahendrabhai Kalubhai, and senior delegates of WHO were also present on the occasion.

More than 75 Nations participate in the first-ever global Summit on Traditional Medicine.

Dr Padma Gurmet has requested the WHO Traditional Medicine Centre to incorporate Sowa-Rigpa under the ambit of WHO Traditional Medicine Centre. WHO Traditional Medicine Centre official assured to incorporate Sowa-Rigpa.
