Deputy Chairman, Hill Council, Leh stresses upon repair of Sasoma, Irrigation Canal in Siachen belt
A meeting on the development of Sasoma command area and repair of irrigation canals in the Siachen belt of Nubra valley was convened by Tsering Sandup, Deputy Chairman, Hill Council Leh on November 5.
Tsering Sandup said that due to very poor conditions of the irrigation canals of both upper and lower Sasoma about 450 families of Siachen belt could not cultivate their fields properly this year. Moreover, due to the poor condition of the canals, the development of the command area of Sasoma was also affected.
He directed Executive Engineer, Irrigation & Flood Control to formulate a plan to repair the Sasoma Irrigation Canal well before the next sowing season and a final decision will be taken after visiting the site soon. Also, Deputy Director Command Area Leh was asked to formulate a detailed plan for the development of Sasoma Command area at the earliest.
Executive Engineer, Irrigation & Flood Control, Deputy Director Command Area Development Leh, Sarpanch Kubet, Nambardar Khemi, and Kubet and members of Sasoma Command Area committee were present during the meeting.
