Delegation of BJP advocates for new administrative districts in Zanskar and Nubra
A delegation representing BJP Ladakh, comprising Phuntsok Wangdan Shunu, State Vice President of BJP Ladakh; Stanzin Lhakpa, BJP District President of Zanskar; and Tsering Sandup, Councillor from Nubra in LAHDC Leh, met Nityanand Rai, Minister of State for Home Affairs, Government of India, at North Block, New Delhi on December 22.
Led by MP Ladakh, Jamyang Tsering Namgyal, the delegation emphasised the necessity of establishing Administrative Districts for Zanskar and Nubra in Ladakh.
MP Jamyang Tsering Namgyal reiterated the urgency of creating these districts, building upon discussions held with Union Minister for Home Affairs, Amit Shah, on December 18. The initiative aims to address challenges in remote regions, aligning with BJP's commitment to development and strengthening administrative capacities in border areas.
The proposal aims to bridge geographical gaps between these areas and their respective district headquarters in Leh and Kargil. The establishment of these districts intends to reinforce local administrative structures, ensuring improved governance and enhanced services for residents in these remote zones.
The delegation earnestly urged the Home Ministry for prompt consideration in announcing the formation of these districts and the timely appointment of Deputy Commissioners.
