The District Child Protection Unit (DCPU) Kargil, in collaboration with key stakeholders such as the Special Juvenile Police Unit, Child Welfare Committee (CWC), and CHL, successfully concluded Pan India Rescue Operation 2.0 on April 1. The operation, conducted from March 1 to 31 across Kargil town, including Sankoo, aimed to eradicate child labor in the district.

Led by Habibullah, Protection Officer (Institutional Care) at DCPU Kargil, the month-long inspection identified five cases of child labor, prompting immediate action against the responsible establishments. The owners were sensitized about child rights and the legal repercussions of employing minors. The DCPU reaffirmed its commitment to promoting education and ensuring a protective environment for children.

As part of the operation, the DCPU issued Declaration Certificates of Child Labor-Free Establishments to hotels, units, and factories where no instances of child labor were found. This initiative recognizes and encourages businesses that adhere to child protection laws and contribute to a child-friendly environment in the district.

Reiterating the DCPU’s dedication, Habibullah stated, “The protection and welfare of children is our utmost priority. We are determined to eradicate child labor and ensure that every child in Kargil grows up in a safe, nurturing environment.”

The DCPU Kargil remains steadfast in its mission to uphold child rights and urges the community to support efforts in protecting children from exploitation. Together, we can build a child-friendly Kargil where every child can realize their full potential in a safe and supportive environment.
