DC Leh convenes meeting on opening new tourist circuits in the district
Deputy Commissioner Leh, Santosh Sukhadeve, held a meeting on September 12 to review proposals for opening new tourist circuits in Leh district. The meeting, held at the VC Room, DC Office, included executive members of ALTOA and the Hotel Association.
During the meeting, representatives from ALTOA and the Hotel Association highlighted several potential circuits, including the Hanle to Tsomoriri route via Kyun Tso and the Chamser Lungser circuit. They also raised concerns about certain routes that are technically open but restricted by the ITBP or Army, requesting the DC's intervention to allow access. Additionally, they emphasized the need for the maintenance of older routes.
DC Leh instructed ALTOA and the Hotel Association to submit a detailed requisition for all proposed routes, which would be forwarded for further consideration. He also urged them to include requests for the restoration and upkeep of existing routes in need of repair.
Other key issues, such as office space for ALTOA, the need for adequate toilet facilities at major tourist spots, and private hospital access for foreign tourists, were also discussed. The meeting was attended by the Additional Deputy Commissioner, the Assistant Director of Tourism, and executive members of ALTOA and the Hotel Association.
