DC Leh chairs meeting on vulnerability mapping, identification of critical polling stations, communications and transport
A meeting was conducted by the District Election Officer/District Commissioner, Leh, Santosh Sukhadeve to update the list of critical polling stations, review the communication and the transportation plans for the upcoming general elections for the Lok Sabha on March 14 at VC room.
During the meeting, discussion was held regarding the critical and non-critical areas of the polling stations so that the police and CRPF can deploy their personnel accordingly.
In view of this ARTO, Leh, Inzar Ahmad discussed the type of vehicles that would be deployed especially to far flung areas to ensure adequate seating capacity for the personnel.
Discussing the lack of mobile connectivity, Superintendent of Police, Telecommunications, UT Ladakh, Deepak Digra informed that they are conducting a survey to identify areas with and without network. He said that there would be satellite phones with the personnel where there is no network to ensure fast and smooth communication. He added that a tentative communication plan will be sent to the DC office.
Additionally DC, Leh asked the concerned authorities to map the deployment of government officials to their respective polling stations. Furthermore, he added that a meeting will be conducted soon for the expenditure planning for the elections. Also, directed the Election Office to finalize the list of critical polling stations at the earliest.
Further, Senior Superintendent of Police, Shruti Arora requested for the updated critical polling stations so that they can plan their deployment.
The meeting was attended by Deputy District Election Officer, Leh, Additional SP, Leh and concerned officers and officials of various departments.
