Deputy Commissioner Drass, Imteeaz Kacho (JKAS), visited Army Goodwill School, Drass, on September 10 and reviewed the school’s infrastructure, academic activities and co-curricular programmes. He also interacted with students and teachers during the visit.

The school authorities briefed the Deputy Commissioner on the functioning of the institution, available infrastructure, academic activities and facilities provided to students. He inspected various sections of the school, including classrooms, the music room, MI room and laboratory.

Interacting with students in their classrooms, Kacho encouraged them to remain focused on their studies and strive to become responsible citizens of the country. He said that Ladakh offers avenues and opportunities across a wide range of career fields and urged students to make the best use of the opportunities available to them.

The Deputy Commissioner appreciated the efforts of the Army and the school administration in providing quality educational opportunities and essential facilities to local children. He also lauded the dedication of the teachers and emphasised their important role in motivating and guiding students towards a bright future.

He stressed the importance of setting higher academic goals and encouraged students to make the best use of the facilities available to them. He also highlighted the significance of inter-school competitions in Drass, observing that such platforms provide students with opportunities to interact, learn from one another, build confidence and showcase their talents.

The school authorities informed the Deputy Commissioner that the institution currently has an enrolment of 287 students and is prepared to accommodate more children despite the shortage of space. The issue of additional space and other requirements of the school was also discussed during the visit.
