COVID-19: 2 more positive cases detected in Ladakh, making it 4

Two more persons tested positive for COVID-19 in Ladakh, one from Bogdang, Nubra of Leh district and the other from Sankoo village of Kargil district, making 4 active cases in Ladakh.

Rigzin Samphel, Commissioner/Secretary Health said, “A total of 148 numbers of COVID-19 results received from National Centre for Disease Control, New Delhi, with 121 sample reports of Leh and 27 sample reports of Kargil district. 
 
Samphel informs that the positive case of Sankoo village had a travel history to Iran and had reached Delhi on the February 26 and had further travelled to Leh from Delhi on March 3. The samples of all the co-passengers will be collected and tested. The area of Sankoo is already under containment, and contact tracing will be carried out following the procedure as per the protocol. Bogdang (Gunisthang village) positive case had a travel history to Gujurat and had reached Chandigarh on February 2 and had reached Thoise of Nubra on March 9. All the 180 fellow passengers’ samples will be collected for testing and decision has been taken to collect 500 samples of Bogdang area for testing.  
 
He further informed that both the positive patients have been shifted to the respective dedicated COVID-19 hospitals in Leh and Kargil. Their family members were also shifted to quarantine facility centers.

Rigzin Samphel repeatedly appeals the general public to disclose their travel history to Gujarat, foreign countries and attended Tablighi Jamaat markaz, and must get themselves registered with the District Administration or the nearest block or District Hospitals and get examined. 
 
Talking about the issue of difficulty in collecting samples from areas such as Chuchot-Yokma, Samphel stated the representatives of the concerned area have been contacted to streamline coordination.
 
“The condition of 4 active COVID-19 cases in UT Ladakh is stable. New Type Primary Health Centre (NTPHC) Hanu staff conducted a normal delivery on April 23. Both the mother and baby are in good health," reads the Media Bulletin of the Directorate of Health Services of UT Administration Ladakh. 
 
A team of specialist doctors of Medical Department of UT Ladakh also conducted Health camps at Koyul, Dungti, Hanu Gongma and Yokma villages in Leh district.
