The Chief Secretary of the Union Territory of Ladakh, Ashish Kundra, chaired an introductory briefing meeting with members of the UT-level Coordination Committee and seven sub-committees constituted for organising the Holy Exposition of the Sacred Relics of Lord Buddha. The event is scheduled to be held from May 1 to 15.

During the meeting, Jigmet Takpa, the Nodal Officer for the exposition, delivered a detailed presentation outlining the significance, scope, and timeline of the event. He provided an overview of the preparations and highlighted key organisational aspects.

The agenda included discussions on the structure, roles, and responsibilities of each committee and sub-committee, as well as the framework for inter-committee coordination and reporting mechanisms.

Deliberations were also held on the preliminary action plan, immediate responsibilities, and the designation of venue in-charges. The potential impact of the exposition on tourism, along with its role in promoting Ladakh as a major cultural and spiritual destination, was also discussed.

Highlighting the importance of the event, Jigmet Takpa described it as a major cultural milestone for Ladakh. He informed that a large-scale Buddhist chanting ceremony, involving a significant number of monks, is planned with the aim of securing a place in the Guinness World Records.

The Chief Secretary directed all committee and sub-committee members to ensure effective coordination for the smooth conduct of the event. Referring to the dedicated website for the exposition, he urged officials to rely on the updated programme schedule to ensure dissemination of accurate and timely information to the public. He also instructed strict adherence to timelines and efficient execution of assigned responsibilities.

Underscoring the sanctity of the sacred relics, Ashish Kundra urged venue in-charges to maintain close coordination with the respective sub-committees to ensure seamless execution of programmes across all venues. He also stressed the need for timely finalisation of seminar topics and issuance of invitations to resource persons.

Additionally, he emphasised the importance of robust security arrangements, cleanliness drives, proper sanitation and waste management, adequate public amenities, and regular maintenance and accessibility of venues.

The meeting concluded with directions to all sub-committees to diligently carry out their assigned duties and promptly submit action taken reports.

Members expressed their collective commitment to ensuring the successful and smooth conduct of this historic exposition in Ladakh.

The meeting was attended by members of the UT-level Coordination Committee and the seven sub-committees, including Administrative Secretaries, heads of organisations, senior government and police officers, and representatives of various monasteries and institutions.
