Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor LAHDC Kargil Feroz Ahmed Khan chaired a meeting with Commissioner/Secretary, Higher Education, Technical Education, and Information Padma Angmo at Council Secretariat on October 4.

During the meeting, the Commissioner/Secretary said kids are bereft of midday meals from the last four months supervised through ICDS, and as per the scheme, the procurement has to be centralized under Panchayati Raj. Further, in this regard cooperative outlets around the vicinity of the ICDS centre can be explored for procurement.

The CEC assured that necessary measures will be taken in this regard.

Regarding the establishment of the Engineering College, she informed that the Engineering College can come only through regulation and it is proposed to be made a centre of excellence. She added the suggestion is to operate Engineering College and Polytechnic College in parallel for 2-3 years and after that Polytechnic College will be upgraded to Engineering College.

During the meeting, a discussion on the status of the amalgamation of SKUAST with the University of Ladakh was also discussed. Feroz Ahmed Khan also took an assessment of the functioning of UoL and the status of the establishment of Central University from the Commissioner/Secretary.

Joint Director Information Ladakh, Imteeaz Kacho, and Under Secretary Higher Education Rigzin Yangdol were also present during the meeting.
