Chief Secretary reviews preparations for 29th Sindhu Darshan Yatra

Chief Secretary Dr. Pawan Kotwal on April 22 reviewed the preparations for the upcoming 29th Sindhu Darshan Yatra.
The review meeting focused on key aspects such as venue setup, transportation, medical facilities, traffic management, power supply, availability of safe drinking water, sanitation, security arrangements, seating, Public Address System, and other related arrangements. The discussions aimed to ensure a smooth, safe, and enriching experience for all attendees.
Dr. Kotwal directed the construction of a permanent double-walled, plastic-insulated water tank with a capacity of over 10,000 liters, equipped with a pumping system and a steel framework, to provide drinking water facilities for tourists and pilgrims. He also instructed the Irrigation Department and Municipal Corporation (MC) to clean the water channel at Sindhu Ghat. Additionally, the PWD Department was tasked with preparing a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the construction of an arched steel bridge to facilitate the movement of devotees and tourists across the Sindhu Ghat, while enhancing the aesthetics of the area.
Emphasizing the importance of the Buddha Statue at Sindhu Ghat, Dr. Kotwal stressed that the construction should be carried out in consultation with religious organizations and under the supervision of reputed statue makers, preferably local Ladakhi sculptors.
Acknowledging the significant cultural and economic contribution of the Sindhu Darshan Yatra, which attracts hundreds of pilgrims and tourists each year, Dr. Kotwal urged all concerned departments to ensure seamless coordination and meticulous planning for the successful conduct of the event.
