Chief Electoral Officer meets religious heads to raise awareness on voting
The Chief Electoral Officer of Ladakh, Yetindra M. Maralkar, led a team to raise awareness, educate, inform, and mobilise participation for the upcoming Lok Sabha election on May 20.
The Chief Electoral Officer was accompanied by the Additional Secretary of Elections, Ladakh, Swaran Singh, and the State Nodal Officer, SVEEP Ladakh, Dr. Tsewang Morup.
The team visited and met with the religious heads, including Ladakh Buddhist Association (LBA) President Chhering Dorjay Lakrook, Christian Community President Sonam Parvaz, Shia Community President Ashraf Ali Barcha, Sunni Community President Dr. Abdul Qayyum, Hindu Community President Balvir Singh, Sikh Community President Kamaljeet Singh, and All Gonpa Association President Ven. Tsering Angdus.
The team presented the heads of the religious communities with special tokens of appreciation, including water bottles, SVEEP t-shirts, and badges.
The officers emphasised the importance of every vote in shaping the future of the region and the nation. They urged the religious heads to inform the general public about the significance of participating in the election and to work towards increasing voter turnout.
